A cellblock with 17 Harris County jail prisoners remains under quarantine after the death earlier this week of an inmate from an unknown medical condition, state and county officials confirmed. Alan Bernstein, director of public affairs for Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia, confirmed the death Friday and said medical tests are underway to determine what the inmate died from. Bernstein said the department expects that laboratory tests will be conclusive "in the next two to three days," but confirmed that the disease was not tuberculosis. A spokeswoman with the Harris County Institute for Forensic Sciences confirmed Green died while in custody at Ben Taub Hospital on March 24, and that an autopsy was preformed.
