Sf Mayor, Union Leaders Reach Deal On Furloughs

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom says he has reached a deal with union leaders that would avoid shortening the work week for thousands of city workers to help balance the budget. Instead, the mayor announced Friday union leaders have agreed to furlough most city employees for 12 days over the next two years. The move is expected to save San Francisco, which is facing a $522 million deficit, about $100 million each year.
