The Board of Supervisors Tuesday unanimously passed legislation Tuesday allowing for the creation of rent-controlled in-law units in Districts 8 and 3, giving Supervisor Julie Christensen a much-needed legislative victory as she faces a contentious election race. It also placed on the November ballot a measure making it city policy to prioritize the use of city owned surplus property for affordable housing and services for the homeless, with the exception of parks. The measure is a compromise deal between Supervisor Jane Kim and Mayor Ed Lee.
