Shanghai (AFP) - China's benchmark Shanghai stock index surged 7.82 percent at the open on Monday after the government unveiled a raft of measures to boost the slumping market, including stabilisation funds and a halt to new share offers, dealers said.The Shanghai Composite Index soared 288.29 points to 3,975.21 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, jumped 6.55 percent, or 137.50 points, to 2,235.98.Join the conversation about this story »
