Barclay Goodrow scored the game-winner shortly after Matt Tennyson’s first career goal as the Sharks beat the pesky Edmonton Oilers 4-3 at SAP Center on Thursday. Tennyson, who hails from Pleasanton, ripped a slap shot from the right point past Oilers goalie Ben Scrivens at 8:29 on a power play to tie the game. Each team scored two goals on consecutive shots in the middle period, and the Oilers took a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes. Center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his ninth goal on Edmonton’s next shot at 9:59, a goal-mouth strike after beating San Jose defenseman Justin Braun to a loose puck to give the visitors a 3-2 lead. Defenseman Jeff Petry started the scoring sequence with a shot from the right point that was steered to the corner by Niemi. Edmonton forwards Jordan Eberle and David Perron pressured San Jose defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic into a turnover to the circle where Gordon pounced with a backhand shot that slipped under Niemi’s pads at 14:43.
