Sheriff Seeks Replacement For Deputies' Cruisers

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Some of the patrol cars driven by the Syracuse-area sheriff's office are so old deputies are using street signs to cover holes in the floorboards. Labor Department investigators said that covering holes in vehicle floors with street signs exposes deputies to jagged metal, exhaust fumes and potential road debris.
