After drivers suffer the pain of detours and closed lanes, they should be rewarded with smooth driving on three city streets with bumpy reputations. City council members voted Tuesday to award a $2 million contract to completely rebuild 34th Avenue from South Coulter Street to South Soncy Road, the first of the projects that will begin this year and stretch into next year. It’s a route that has drawn complaints for years. “Including from me,” said City Councilman Jim Simms.
