A winter storm that hit late Saturday night brought power outages and treacherous roads to the region as snow continued to fall into Sunday afternoon. There were more than 12,000 Appalachian Power customer outages by early Sunday in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Snow totals ranged from several inches in the Tri Cities to a foot in parts of Southwest Virginia. “We are beginning to see outages creep up in our Tennessee and far Southwest Virginia service area,” said Appalachian Power’s John Shepelwich.
