"Like many small colleges we've had financial challenges, some severe challenges recently," Michael Scaperlanda said Tuesday. "The organization is running much more efficiently," said Scaperlanda, who stepped into the president's job May 16 and streamlined the top administrative positions at a savings of $350,000 annually. His role includes being an external advocate for the university, talking to potential donors and potential students.
