STAMFORD -- Standing on a downtown street corner, a group of urban planners tasked with mapping out the future of Stamford's transportation paused to admire a car with a camera on top, capturing the present state of Stamford streets, as if in amber, for Google Maps. It was a confluence of the present meeting the future as the group of seven, organized by the Downtown Special Services District, plotted a new direction for the city's transportation and pedestrian needs. The time had come, the planners agreed, to talk of many things.
