MetaFact is hoping that AI might help mitigate misinformation spread in multiple languages and through text, photo, and video on the encrypted messaging service. When a group of five men offered a cookie to a young girl in a village in the western Indian state of Maharashtra last July, they didn’t know the gesture would cost them their lives.
