Step Up Savannah Inc. officials will host their annual meeting and breakfast from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Oct. 17 at the Savannah Technical College’s Eckburg Auditorium. This year’s theme is “Make it work, Savannah: Building successful partnerships for workforce training.” Carolyn Seward, CEO of the Metropolitan Education and Training Center in St. Louis, Mo., will be the guest speaker. Her nonprofit develops collaborative partnerships to deliver education/training and support services to customers and is a premier workforce center in the region and nation. In 2011, she also established Family and Workforce Centers of America, a nonprofit with a mission to build services for youth and families in the region. Also planned for the meeting is the presentation of this year’s Workplace Innovator Award to recognize a local employer who uses innovative business practices to retain their lower-wage employees. The community event is open to all at no charge but reservations are required: email jjohnson@stepupsavannah.org or call 232-6747 For more information, contact Step Up at 232-6747 or www.stepupsavannah.org
