Steven Soderbergh knows that his new film, “Logan Lucky,” comes off like a chicken-fried version of his “Ocean’s 11” trilogy. He knows he’s courting controversy in toying with red-state stereotypes, inhabited by recognizable Hollywood royalty, and situating it on a buzzing NASCAR track. Fortunately, the 54-year-old, Oscar-winning director isn’t exactly known for mindless, out-of-touch movies. “It certainly seemed fair to have these characters talk about or experience things that people in that part of the country are experiencing or talking about,” Soderbergh said over the phone this week from his office in Manhattan.
