Stillwater Police Release 911 Calls From Near-beheading

BY KYLE HINCHEY, Staff WriterSTILLWATER — Stillwater police released on Friday an edited version of the 911 call made by the suspect in Wednesday’s near-beheading as well as three calls from witnesses. Isaiah Zoar Marin, 21, called 911 Wednesday afternoon while running down State Highway 51 and told the operator he had killed someone, police said. Witnesses said Marin was covered in blood and carrying a large blade, which police said he used to kill his brother’s roommate, Jacob Andrew Crockett, 19, of Stillwater, moments earlier. Police have redacted much of the eight-minute phone call, which has large portions of silence on the recording. According to the affadavit, Marin told the operator, “I murdered someone,” and that he “hacked them to death with a machete.” Both statements are missing from the edited version. For most of the call, the operator attempted to find Marin’s location. Three minutes into the call, Marin told the operator he wasn’t going to do anything stupid. After the operator asked what Marin was wearing, he yelled back, “I’m the guy with the phone!” Marin sounded frantic throughout the call and was mostly unresponsive.
