Less than 24 hours after learning they'll share a home court and high school campus next season, Central and Ozen students and fans filled the Central gym Friday night, cheering their basketball teams on in a hometown rivalry game. This season will be the last for the Panthers and Jaguars to meet, after Beaumont ISD's board of managers voted Thursday to consolidate the two high schools next school year. Students and fans discussed the merger before Friday's tip-off, some weighing in on possible names and mascots for the 6A school they'll form, others bemoaning they will be the last classes to wear their schools' colors.
