Last fall, a joint venture of Auberge Resorts and the owners of tony Carneros Inn, among other luxe lodgings, reacquired the 89-cottage resort, renowned for its self-applying spin on mud baths, thermal waters and Michelin-starred Solbar restaurant — all enjoyable during this cooler, rainy off-season. The 22 leafy acres are bracketed by the busy Silverado Trail and multifamily housing, but the panoramic mountain vistas and meandering, creek-crossed layout create a surprisingly tranquil enclave.
