A 45-year-old man from Chicago was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly robbed a west Colorado Springs bank, police said. Police say Robert Payton handed a note to a clerk at Canon National Bank, 3204 W. Colorado Ave., and walked out with an undisclosed amount of money, police said. Within 10 minutes of the heist, officers caught up with Payton about a half-mile away on the 200 block of Yale Road. The incident was reported just before noon. Police do not know how long Payton has been in Colorado Springs, and investigators are looking into his possible involvement in other similar holdups outside of the jurisdiction.
