Super Bowl Thank You

As Super Bowl Sunday looms nearby, I am reminded of the frenzy surrounding sports and the main day. I am not a sports fan but my significant other is. This is probably a typical scenario in a lot of households where the husband loves and enjoys his sports and the wife is just a bystander. And, there is probably nothing more perfect than a beer and watching a sports game on TV, while the wife is busy preparing dinner. What the Big day doesn’t focus on is what the wife is doing so the husband and his friends could enjoy the game and festivities.

 

NBC sold out of advertising spots for Super Bowl

Super Bowl spots are still the hottest ticket in advertising. NBC has sold all the commercial airtime for the Feb. 5 game in Indianapolis and even has a waiting list of advertisers. The average cost for a 30-second spot this year was $3.5 million, with some time slots costing as much as $4 million.

Despite a steep increase in advertising prices and a lackluster economy, commercial spots for Super Bowl XLVI are all sold out, showing yet another sign of the increasing influence of sports TV on Madison Avenue.
