News Corp. Chief Digital Officer Jon Miller will step down from his position as the company prepares to split its media and entertainment business from its publishing assets.

News Corp. said Thursday that chief digital officer Jonathan Miller would leave his job in September. Miller will stay on as an outside advisor through fall 2013. He took the role in 2009, focusing on both distribution and international investments, while also serving as the News Corp. representative on the board of Hulu.

Ross Levinsohn, the executive who served as Yahoo's interim chief, confirmed on Monday that he was leaving the Internet company after being passed over to fill the spot permanently.

Since 2009, he has been NPR’s executive editor, managing all news operations. His resignation follows the departure of NPR’s top news executive Ellen Weiss in January.
