Toymaker Hasbro sees its results beat market expectations, despite seeing its losses widen as it continues cost-cutting efforts.

The New York Times Company reported a $35.6 million loss for the third quarter on falling advertising revenue, but deep cost-cutting and newspaper price increases helped beat projections.

Dell Inc reported stronger-than-expected quarterly profit on Thursday, showing it was better able to cut costs and protect prices on its products than analysts, or its own executives, had predicted.
