Google in Talks With Verizon About a Tablet Computer

Google Inc. is in talks with Verizon Wireless to develop a tablet computer that would compete with Apple Inc.'s hit iPad. The tablet will run on Google's Android operating system ...

Senh: Google: "Whatever you can do, I can do better." Interesting that it's gonna run on Android rather than the Chrome operating system that they were building for netbooks. Will Microsoft follow suit and create a tablet to be run on Windows Mobile 7?

Apple says sold 1 million iPads

Apple says sold 1 million iPads

Apple Inc on Monday said it sold one million iPads in its first 28 days, and users of the tablet computer have already downloaded 12 million apps and 1.5 million digital books.

Senh: Amazing. Looks like another Steve Jobs product, which innitially garnered unfavorable reviews by the tech industry, is selling really well. You have to give it to the guy. He's able to combine two existing products - netbooks and tablet computers - and turn it into a must-have product. Overall, there are probably more netbook sales than iPads, but it definitely beats sales of existing tablet computers. The iPad is essentially the Mac's version of a netbook, and it has its advantages - multitouch, portable, thin, and thousands of apps. If you already own a netbook, you have no use for it, but if you don't already own a netbook, then it's a nice alternative. Like what Jobs did with the iPhone, you can expect other computer makers to come out with their own versions of the iPad.

New 3G iPad Reviewed — and Found Superior

The bottom line, if you're considering an iPad purchase and you plan to take it outside of your house for any length of time, be it the park, the bus, the train, or the Internet free zone at the grandparents' house, the always connected 3G is the sure way to go. Without the Internet, the iPad is a severely handicapped device. Trust me, you're going to want the Internet. After all, this is the best Internet browsing device I've ever used.

Senh: So with 3G, the iPad is about $630. You can almost buy two netbooks with that, which has more power, more storage, supports flash, and can run all of your desktop applications. The advantage of the iPad is mobility. I can see people using this while sitting on the toilet, but not a netbook. If netbooks start offering touchscreens for the same price, then that would be a killer.

iPad 3G Video Downscaled, Blocked Over AT&T Network

In our early testing, iLounge has learned that some video delivery applications act differently over the 3G network than they do on Wi-Fi. The iPad's built-in YouTube application strips both standard and HD videos to a dramatically lower resolution over the cellular data connection, something that iTunes Store video previews notably do not do, instead staying at a higher quality and consuming a greater amount of data.
