Terror Alert on U.S. Travel to Europe Not Over Yet

A terror alert for Americans traveling and living in Europe remains in effect after the U.S. State Department issued the warning earlier this month.

The State Department's counterterrorism coordinator said there is no reason to rescind the alert since the alleged European terror plot is still active. U.S.-based airlines reported no noticeable increase in ticket cancellations on Sunday after the United States and Britain warned their citizens of an increased risk of terror attacks in Europe.

 

Britain raises terror threat level to "severe"

Britain raised its international terrorism threat level to 'severe' -- its second highest level of terror alert -- from 'substantial' on Friday, Home Secretary (interior minister) Alan Johnson said.
