Oregon has a rich history of running and road races. Yet, nowhere in Oregon, or in the world, had there ever been an 800-meter straight road race. That changed on Oct. 13, 2012, when the city of Springfield partnered with five-time 800-meter U.S.

Why isn’t City Hall more secure? A bicycle is my only form of transportation. As one of the long-term unemployed, at age 60, I spend many of my days at the Springfield Public Library/Springfield City Hall. I chain-lock my new bicycle on a daily basis.
