By Darla Slipke Dig Team dslipke@oklahoman.comTesting more than 7,000 untested rape kits that have been identified in Oklahoma could potentially cost anywhere from about $9.5 million to close to $12 million, based on estimates provided in a report by a statewide task force that has been examining the issue. However, the actual cost could be different because no formal decisions have been made about how to test the kits or how many kits to test, and the task force has recommended that some kits not be tested. The task force believes forensic labs in Oklahoma would need additional funding in order to process all of the previously unsubmitted kits.Read more on NewsOK.com
