Harris County officials tend to keep a low profile online, and a fair number have not yet staked any claim on social media. El Franco Lee, who served three decades on Commissioners Court before his death in January, still has no Wikipedia page. None of the four precinct commissioners takes much advantage of Twitter. By contrast, former Mayor Annise Parker has over 56,000 Twitter followers, Mayor Sylvester Turner has over 10,000 and the City of Houston's site has over 68,000. Some county offices, including spokespeople, department heads and elected officials, have begun carving out space to make their office's work known.
