President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he has appointed Randolph “Tex” Alles to be the director of the U.S. Secret Service. Alles is currently the acting deputy commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. He previously led air and marine operations for the CBP. He joins the ranks of Trump administration officials with military backgrounds as he served in the Marines for 35 years, rising to the rank of major general before retiring in 2011.
