Ryan Feltner’s baseball education has become a school of hard knocks.
The Rockies remain enamored with the right-hander’s powerful fastball and his potential as a starting pitcher. Still, Feltner struggled again Monday night, and the Rockies were bludgeoned, 13-3, by Cincinnati at Coors Field.
“I need to figure out a better way to get outs here,” Feltner said, referring to Coors Field, where his ERA sits at 7.30 after five starts.
Pat Surtain II dressed the part.
On Monday night at Surtain’s “Football2Fashion” fundraiser, the Broncos starting cornerback was dressed in Bottega pants and boots with a red cardigan sweater as if he was about to walk down a runway of his own fashion show.
Surtain’s fundraiser was meant to express his love for fashion while raising money for his foundation’s outreach programs.
“It came to mind based on my style and everyone coming together to raise money (for) the inner city youth to make sure they have the resources to fulfill their dreams,” Surtain told a small scrum of reporters at Social Capitol Events in Arvada.
Before the start of the festivities, Surtain addressed his contract situation — a topic that will follow him throughout the 2024 campaign now that he is eligible for an extension.
In April, the Broncos exercised Surtain’s fifth-year option, keeping him under contract through 2025.

“The bankruptcy and the fact that he has been playing under his father with the last two programs has not (helped),” Dave Syvertsen, longtime scout and senior draft analyst with the Ourlads.com scouting service, told me Monday.
Two young brothers and their cousin were wandering through a fossil-rich stretch of the North Dakota badlands when they made a discovery that left them “completely speechless”: a T. rex bone poking out of the ground.
The trio announced their discovery publicly Monday at a Zoom news conference as workers at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science prepare to begin chipping the fossil out of its rock cast at a special exhibit called Discovering Teen Rex.
Baton Rouge, La. — A person found guilty of a sex crime against a child in Louisiana could soon be ordered to undergo surgical castration, in addition to prison time.
Louisiana lawmakers gave final approval to a bill Monday that would allow judges the option to sentence someone to surgical castration after the person has been convicted of certain aggravated sex crimes — including rape, incest and molestation — against a child younger than 13.
