KINGSTON — The Ulster County Health Department has closed five beaches and a lake to swimming.The beaches were closed Friday due to detection of elevated levels of fecal bacteria; the lake was shut to bathing due to a harmful algae, according to Dr. Carol Smith, the county commissioner of health and mental health.Closed to swimming are Kingston Point Beach, Marbletown Beach, Rifton Beach, Rip Van Winkle Beach, Seewackamano Beach and Chodikee Lake.There is no [...]
