Similar Stories to Un Certain Regard Prizes Unveiled At Cannes on Bing News

Hungarian director Kornel Mondruczo's film centering on an uprising of dogs, "White God," has nabbed the top prize in Cannes' Un Certain Regard section. Meanwhile, the Jury Prize went to Ruben Ostlund's "Turist," and Jury Special Prize to Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado's co-directed documentary "Salt of the Earth." Acting awards were handed out to Aboriginal actor David Gulpilil (who began his career as the young walkabout of the title in Nicolas Roeg's 1971 classic) for Rolf de Heer's "Charlie's Country," while the ensemble award went to the section's opener, "Party Girl," by Marie Amachoukeli, Claire Burger and Samuel Theis. Director Pablo Trapero oversaw the jury for the winning selections. The most buzzed about Un Certain Regard player, Ryan Gosling's "Lost River," went home empty-handed -- though that's not too surprising given the hyperbolically harsh reviews it received.
