The University of Hawaii Foundation ended its fiscal year raising a record breaking $98.6 million in gifts and donations, mostly thanks to a $40 million gift in June from the New York-based Simons Foundation. More than $46 million of the funds received during the fiscal year that ended June 30 will go to research programs at the university, with the Simons Foundation funds going to marine life studies.
