The State of Columbia reported Saturday (http://bit.ly/1yllScX ) that the American Community Survey released by the federal agency last week shows the percentage of South Carolinians classified as living in poverty rose slightly between 2012 and 2013 rose slightly, from 18.3 percent to 18.6 percent. The proportion of people living in poverty in South Carolina surpassed the national figure of 15.8 percent who met the poverty threshold, defined as a family of four with annual household income of $23,550 or less.
