Warm weather and the drought are taking a toll on California's almond crop, according to a forecast Wednesday from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.This fall’s harvest will come in at 1.8 billion pounds of nut meats, based on a sampling of orchards around the state, the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service in Sacramento reported.That is down 3 percent from a May forecast, based on a survey of growers, and down 4 percent from last year's nearly 1.9 [...]
