More paramedics have been hired and are now on the job in Valley Center to improve emergency medical services in the rural area, the local fire chief said. The added service started Thursday, with a team of paramedics and emergency medical technicians assigned to each of three fire rigs. Previously, a paramedic-EMT team was available only on the single ambulance serving the Valley Center Fire Protection District, Fire Chief Joe Napier said.
