Vermont Let Power Company Charge Customers For Bonuses

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont let its largest power company bill customers for bonuses to salaried employees, despite advice not to do that from a consultant retained by the state. Vermont Public Radio Reports (http://bit.ly/2cz8QSd ) that Green Mountain Power billed customers more than $770,000 to cover bonuses awarded after a storm caused salaried workers to put in extra hours. The state Department of Public Service, which is responsible for representing ratepayers in utility matters, helped to get the money included in the company's rates, even after a consultant urged it not to do so. Consultant Bill Schultz wrote that salaried employees are sometimes expected to put in extra hours as part of their jobs.
