KINGSPORT — City school students here could return to classrooms Monday, Aug. 1 next year.If the start of the school year is later, their fall and holiday breaks could be cut shorter.And in the spring semester, regardless of the fall semester decision, they wouldn’t get Good Friday off unless the school year is extended or some other day off become a school day.City school board members, bracing for an expected backlash from a potential 2016-17 school calendar with the first day of school the start of August, decided during a meeting Thursday night to survey parents on the calendar before making any decisions.Kingsport City Schools Superintendent Lyle Ailshie and Chief Information Officer Andy True said they would get out a survey and get the results back to the board in time for its regular Oct.
