VIRGINIA BEACH Mayor Will Sessoms today proposed a 6-cent real estate tax hike to close a school division funding shortfall and to give teachers 2 percent raises. That would add 2 cents to the tax rate increase in City Manager Jim Spore's original budget. Sessoms also suggested reinstating a revenue sharing formula to fund schools after the budget is voted on next week.read more
