A hospital in Falls Church, Virginia, was placed in lockdown early Tuesday after a prisoner escaped, The Washington Post reported. Police in Fairfax County confirmed to NBC News that the Inova Fairfax Hospital was placed in lockdown for an "active shooter situation," and that a manhunt was underway. Police reportedly told ABC 7 News that the officers were transferring inmate Wossen Assaye from Alexandria jail to the hospital when he allegedly overpowered a sheriff's deputy, stole his gun and escaped.
