Oscar-nominated screenwriter and producer Walter Bernstein, who survived the blacklist era by writing pseudonymous scripts for television and later wrote films including “Fail-Safe,” “The Front” and “Semi-Tough,” died on Jan. 22. He was 101. Bernstein’s longtime friend and former WGA West president Howard Rodman shared the news of his death on Twitter Saturday.
