The 'CBS Evening News' standard-bearer guided a nation through times of turmoil and great achievement. He was long considered 'the most trusted man in America.' Walter Cronkite, the television newsman whose steady baritone informed, reassured and guided the nation during the tumultuous 1960s and '70s and who was still regarded as "the most trusted man in America" years after leaving his CBS anchor chair, has died.
