Khzir Khan stood with his wife ,Ghazala, on stage at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia to deliver the most powerful statement of the entire Democratic National Convention: Donald Trump’s campaign of bigotry will not define the spirit of this nation. “Hillary Clinton was right when she called my son the best of America,” Khan said of his son, who was only 27 when he was killed by a suicide bomber in Iraq in June 2004. “Our son had dreams too,” Khan’s father told the gathered Democrats, “but he put those dreams aside the day he sacrificed his life.” “Donald Trump, you have sacrificed nothing,” Khan then said, turning his attention to the Republican presidential nominee. “Donald Trump you are asking Americans to trust you with their future. “Let me ask you,” Khan continued.
