Shogun star, Anna Sawai, recently revealed the bizarre reason she was forced to miss an audition for David Ayer's 2016 DCEU flick, Suicide Squad. The Japanese/New Zealend actress has established herself as a Hollywood mainstay in recent years after starring roles in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Pachinko, Giri/Haji, F9, and, most recently, FX's epic historical drama, Shogun.

The trend of taking beloved childhood icons and turning them into blood-soaked slasher movies continues, as a new film from director Glenn Douglas Packard featuring Mickey Mouse and Winnie-the-Pooh promises to unleash a night of violence and gore. Titled Mickey vs. Winnie, the film is not associated with the producers of the recent Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey franchise, but instead will be produced by Packards own Untouchables Entertainment.

Director Wes Ball has revealed an intriguing detail about the home media release of his upcoming Planet of the Apes movie, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Speaking with Ape Nation, Ball has revealed that the Blu-ray and DVD will include a version of the movie made up of the raw dailies and including zero VFX.

Jeff Daniels, who starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the 1994 action classic, Speed, recently revealed how he channeled Steven Spielberg's Jaws during his character's dramatic death. Directed by Jan de Bont, Speed follows police officer Jack Travern (Reeves) after being tasked with disarming a bomb on a moving bus, which will explode if the vehicle slows to below 50mph.

A24 surprised everyone in Hollywood on Wednesday, May 1, as they outbid and outplayed Amazon, Warner Bros., Netflix, and Apple to pick up a feature package. A24 supposedly spent seven figures on the rights for Checkmate, but here's the rub it's a 12-page book outline; that's more than $83 thousand paid per page.
