Q: I was just diagnosed with Grave’s disease. Is radioactive iodine treatment the best choice?A: Grave’s disease (GD) is an autoimmune disease where the body’s own antibodies (thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulins) attack receptors in the patient’s own thyroid, activating these receptors (and hence increasing thyroid hormone levels) and causing the thyroid gland to grow.
