The widow of a New York City Transit track worker electrocuted on the third rail has accepted a $4 million settlement from the agency on the eve of a civil trial in the man’s grisly death, the Daily News has learned. A Queens judge had already ruled that NYC Transit was negligent for failing to protect James Knell against the lethal shock, so a jury had only to determine the amount of monetary compensation for his pain and suffering.
