All this long, hot summer, as we have watched severe drought take its toll on neighboring towns, Winchester and other communities served by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority have taken comfort in the notion that emergency water bans don't apply to us.After all, the MWRA pulls its water from the Quabbin Reservoir, which holds about 412 billion gallons.
