Wise County Gop Sheriff Hopefuls Trade Barbs Onstage

WISE – The Republican hopefuls for Wise County Sheriff traded criticisms Tuesday before approximately 100 supporters just over a week before the party’s ‘firehouse’ primary to select between the three candidates. County Assistant Sheriff Grant Kilgore – supported by retiring incumbent R.D. Oakes – shared the stage at Central High School’s auditorium with Coeburn Police Chief Scott Brooks and Pound police officer and former county commonwealth’s attorney Tim McAfee during the county GOP-hosted debate.
