GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Federal officials say a small airplane collided with a power line pole and unmarked transmission lines before it crashed and burned, killing the pilot and injuring a flight instructor. A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board said a witness saw the plane's landing gear barely clear a building as it flew toward an airport in Gainesville. The witness told investigators he saw the airplane maneuver up, as if it was trying to avoid power lines east of the building.
