Woman Fined $1,000 For Trashing Office With Glitter And Silly String

AKRON, Ohio — A former clerk at an Ohio county’s fiscal office has been fined $1,000 for trashing a co-worker’s office with glitter and purple Silly String. A judge in Akron also ordered 25-year-old Samantha Lockhart on Tuesday to complete 50 hours of community service and to write an apology. She was working for Summit County in January when police say she smashed photos, threw glitter and sprayed Silly String in the office after sending a resignation notice. Prosecutors say Lockhart also destroyed a computer, scanner, printer and keyboard. Lockhart told the Akron Beacon Journal after sentencing that she didn’t do everything she was accused of doing. She said everyone makes mistakes, but a prosecutor told the judge Lockhart didn’t show any remorse. The judge suspended Lockhart’s nine-month jail sentence, but placed her on probation for 18 months.
