Woman Launches Campaign To Allow Chickens In Edmond Backyards

By Diana Baldwin Staff Writer dbaldwin@oklahoman.comEDMOND — A woman, who had to get rid of her backyard chickens after a code enforcement officer received a complaint, is leading a campaign to get the city ordinance changed. Lainee Copeland, who lives in Edmond's Chimney Hills housing addition, said her urban chickens provided eggs for her family. "I believe it is time to move forward," Copeland told city council members this week as she asked for help in getting to raise her chickens in her backyard.
