Woodstock City Council candidates fielded questions last week about economic development, the Old Courthouse, marijuana legalization and video gambling. Five people are running to fill three seats on the council: Wendy Piersall, Darrin Flynn, Tom Grell, Michael Stanard and Lisa Lohmeyer. Incumbents Mark Saladin, Maureen Larson and Dan Hart have opted not to run for re-election. The candidates discussed their campaigns during a forum Thursday at the Woodstock Opera House. Grell, a lifelong resident of the city, said his platform is to bring economic development and growth to Woodstock in the form of more manufacturing companies, retail businesses and housing.
