Madaline Snyder rides a Denver B-Cycle for Denver Cruisers on the first Wednesday of June 2013.Denver Post file It’s the freewheeling frolic known as the Denver Cruiser Ride, and this week’s theme is “Rock & Roll Never Dies, Except….” “When we came up with the theme, David Bowie and Prince had just died,” said Brad Evans, who founded Denver Cruiser Ride in 2005. The deaths of those two rock legends triggered a collective mourning on social media, and tribute will also be paid on Wednesday night, when  “there will be a whole bunch of people dressed like Prince and David Bowie,” he said. Costumes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Sid Vicious, and Jim Morrison will also be out in force, along with bikes decorated to match. About 13 people came to the first Denver Cruiser Ride event, and its popularity — driven by wacky costumes and fun attitudes — have grown to “over a thousand people” each week, he said. It’s about halfway through the summer season of balmy night rides, and upcoming themes include Super Villains, Spaghetti Western, and Pirates, Sea Men & Mermaids.
